Paper Towel Holder

When I was thinking about what I used in my kitchen in my condo, I knew, given the counter space, that I would need something for paper towels that was not set on a table or countertop. I found this paper towel holder on Amazon. It was really appealing that the paper towel holder attaches in two ways. There are both 3M sticky foam and screws. Initially, I was convinced that the sticky foam would be enough to attach it to the underside of the cabinet and call it good. When I was installing the paper towel holder, I realized that the screws were a necessity of installation.

The fact that the end of the paper towel holder is open made the design appealing. It is metal with very little given, so I was not worried that it would break or sag over time. When installing, I made sure to not align it all the way to the wall in order to account for the width of the paper towel roll.

Tools Needed:

  • Measuring tape
  • Long screwdriver
  • Cleansing cloth

Product: Joom Self-Adhesive Paper Towel Holder

How To:

  • Determine where the best place would be to install the paper towel holder.
  • Measure at least 4 inches out from the wall, if you want it to be recessed under the cabinet. I also measured about an inch and a half in from the outer edge of the cabinet so that is was not too close to the door.
  • Wipe clean the area where the adhesive will make contact with the underside of the cabinet.
  • Dry fit the paper towel holder to ensure it is will work where the measurements are marked.
  • Peal off the paper cover of the adhesive and gently place the paper towel holder to your measured placement.
  • When you are satisfied with the placement, press upward with some force to help the adhesive along.
  • Using a long screwdriver, install the screws. Given the structure of my cabinet, I choose not to pre-drill holes. It took some muscle, but I was able to place the screws with just a screwdriver. If you have solid wood cabinets, you will want to pre-drill holes.

Hanging Fruit Net Bag

Food storage has been a tricky thing to figure out in the camper. There are a few solutions that I love, but this one is definitely a favorite. I cannot eat a ton of fruit post-bariatric surgery, but I do like to keep some on hand a carbohydrate option in my diet. This set is from IKEA, and it came with a smaller bag (this one) and a bigger bag (used elsewhere). The bag can stretch to fit a few apples without issue. It is easily washable and I can take it with me when I shop.

When it came to hanging up the bag, I really weighed my options. I had already purchased these metal hooks with clear plastic adhesive squares that are rated for 37lbs. I am not so sure I believe the weight rating, but I figured it would definitely work for fruit.

The installation took all of 30 seconds and was incredibly easy.

Tools Needed:

  • Cleansing cloth

Products: Antimbee 10-Pack All-Purpose Large Adhesive Hooks, KUNGSFORS Mesh bags

How To:

  • Wipe clean the area where the adhesive will make contact with the underside of the cabinet.
  • Dry fit the hook backing to ensure it is will work where desired.
  • Peal off the clear plastic cover of the adhesive and gently place the hook to the underside of the cabinet.

This was so easy and these improvements are used everyday. They are versatile, aesthetically pleasing, inexpensive, and easy to install.
